First Visit
At Blaisdell Family Dentistry we feel that your first visit to our office is a very important one. The successful outcome of any treatment requires a thorough comprehensive exam and developing a treatment plan based not only on the clinical findings but also on what the patient’s vision is for his/her mouth.
The initial examination for each patient may take 1–1 ½ hours. This exam may consist of not only a clinical evaluation, but an update of x-rays (if necessary), impressions of your mouth, and digital photographs. To obtain the necessary information and develop a complete and individualized treatment plan the needs of each patient will be evaluated in the following areas: bone and gum (periodontal), existing tooth structure, and previous dental work (biomechanical), joint, bite and chewing (function), and smile characteristics (dentofacial). After obtaining all the required information a plan tailored to your individual needs will be developed. Another appointment may be needed to discuss different options and costs. At that point, we will help you schedule any necessary treatment.

X-Rays
If you have x-rays from a previous dentist or physician, you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional images are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.
Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your first visit:

- If you have medical or dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.
Your scheduled appointment time has been reserved specifically for you. We request a 24-hour notice if you need to cancel your appointment
IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under the age of 18 at the consultation visit.
Scheduling
Our office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:10 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (September through May). In the summer (June-August) our hours are Monday and Wednesday 8:10 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 7:10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. We will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible. If you have pain or an emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you that day.

We try our best to stay on schedule to minimize your waiting. Due to the fact that Dr. Lynn Blaisdell and Dr. Craig Blaisdell provide many types of dental services, various circumstances may lengthen the time allocated for a procedure. Emergency cases can also arise and cause delays. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
Infection Control
Infection controls and universal precautions protect clients and staff alike. Everyone benefits from rigorous infection control — you, your dentist, and the dental team. They are the cornerstone in a good and safe dental practice is the element of trust. You should feel free to discuss this topic with our staff and receive a straightforward answer.
Our entire team follows procedures recommended by several federal agencies: the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA,) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
- We sterilize all reusable equipment, including dental handpieces.
- We use an autoclave, a device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat, and pressure.
